What is the Great Backyard Bird Count?

The Great Backyard Bird Count is a global citizen science project, meaning YOU get to be involved with helping scientists identify and count species of birds!

How do I participate?

You can participate from anywhere in the world, but consider visiting the nature center for a tranquil place to spot birds! Once you have picked a spot you will bird watch for 15 minutes and keep track of every bird you see or hear! Once you have collected your data you can submit it online! Why should I count birds at the Dunwoody Nature Center?

In addition to the nature center being the perfect place to spot birds, we will have bird identification guides available and other fun activity sheets for participants. Just visitor the main building to pick up your guides and activity sheets, this is a fun self-led activity for the whole community!
