A Message From
The DNC Board Of Directors
Dear Friends of Dunwoody Nature Center
Greetings and welcome, from the DNC Board of Directors. All of us thank all of you for your friendship and support. We had a lovely year in 2008 and see more good times ahead.
Some highlights of 2008:
- 25,000 neighbors and friends visited woodland trails, wildlife habitat, and demonstration gardens.
- 3,800 children and their families gathered at DNC to play and learn - at the Butterfly Festival, Tree Hug Festival, Family Animal Encounters, Concerts in the Park and Cocoa & Candles.
- Over 2,850 students, scouts and campers marveled at our wonderful planet, and over 720 adults broadened their knowledge at our classes, lectures and garden tour.
- Legions of volunteers improved wildlife habitat and enriched DNC's programming: the total hours (4,000+) amounted to almost two additional full-time staffers.
- Generous community support opened exciting doors for the Nature Center to improve accessibility to our buildings and grounds, and to combat exotic invasive plants.
- Through a partnership with DeKalb County, our treehouse learning pavilion was completed. This innovative classroom, more than doubling our protected teaching space, was conceived and initially funded by Austin Elementary students.
