On behalf of the Board of Directors

“Welcome.”

Whether you enjoy hiking our trails, looking for native birds and plants, or watching your children play in Wildcat Creek, there is something here for everyone. We want you to consider the Dunwoody Nature Center as an extension of your backyard and our community.   Where else can you find 22 acres of forest, trails, wetlands and creek, all right in the middle of our bustling city? At the Dunwoody Nature Center, we always have something going on:  be sure to check our calendar each month for information on camps for children, special programming for adults, or our annual Butterfly Festival, Garden Tour and Summer Concert Series.

The Dunwoody Nature Center is self-supported; funded entirely by donations from our members, local businesses and civic groups, as well as program fees and project grants. That means that we truly depend on the talents and generosity of our members and volunteers.  Last year over 8,500 people enjoyed our events, programming and camps and this does not include our daily visitors who come by to play, hike or relax. This level of community support enables us to fulfill our mission: “To develop, improve and preserve the twenty-two acres of Dunwoody Park as a natural classroom for environmental education.”

Want to learn more about how you can become a part of the Dunwoody Nature Center? Consider becoming a member or a volunteer.  Please come by, we’d love to show you around. While you’re here if there is anything we can do for you, please don’t hesitate to let us know.  You can contact me personally at alan@alanmothner.com anytime if you have any suggestions or recommendations for us.

We look forward to seeing you around the park.

Alan Mothner
