Dunwoody Nature Center helps your troop earn patches, badges, try-its, and awards with many programs and service opportunities. Come and enjoy the resources of Dunwoody Park as a DNC educator leads your troop on a fun and educational program of your choice. All of our programs are designed to meet scouting requirements as outlined in your project handbooks. Sign up today!
Older siblings are welcome to participate. Just pay the usual program fee. We encourage younger siblings to have free time at the playground. Please note there is a $30 weekend surcharge for field trips scheduled outside our usual Mon-Fri operating hours.
Special Opportunity: Tree Climbing Badge Clinic
12 pm - 5 pm ... Now your Troop can earn badges AND have a fantastic time up a tree at Dunwoody Nature Center. Juniors can meet a requirement of the Adventure Sports Badge OR satisfy the ENERGIZE segment of the Get Moving Leadership Journey ("It's Your Planet - Love It!")
Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambasssadors can apply this experience to the High Adventure Interest Project. $40 per Scout.

Daisy Scouts
- Discover Nature - Scouts learn how plants & animals change through the year in this introduction to nature. Four seasonal offerings: Spring Into Action, Butterflies Are Free, Fall Frolics, and Winter Wonderland.
- Nature Makes Sense - Using their senses, Scouts explore the park, discover the differences between natural and manmade items, play hearing and smelling games, and share their discoveries.
Brownies

- Animals -Explore how wild & domestic animals look, move, and sound as well as learn how to care for pets and wildlife.
- Earth & Sky - Learn about the soil, sky, and animals who fly. Dig in the dirt. Create clouds to take home.
- Eco-Explorer - Become a naturalist by exploring nature, food webs, habitats, and helping wildlife.
- Watching Wildlife - Animals have much to teach us! Learn how to be good observers and caretakers of the fauna around you.
- Water Everywhere - Learn about our most precious resource with games, experiments, and exploration of Wildcat Creek.
Junior Girl Scouts

- Camp Together - Your troop can earn this badge by preparing for and attending the Camping 101 program at DNC. See the overnights section for more information.
- Earth Connections - Become an ecologist for a day by studying connections in nature, identifying trees, learning about food webs, and studying an ecosystem.
- Eco-Action - Create recycled art and learn about a woman champion of the environment.
- Outdoor Creativity - Nature will inspire Scouts to create art, poetry, and crafts that express your love of the outdoors.
- Plants & Animals - Explore the world of flora and fauna by learning about invasive species, creating seed art, and taking home a plant to grow.
- Rocks Rock - An introduction to geology: hike the park and discover rocks, erosion problems, weather patterns, and soil types.
- Science Discovery - Hands-on science experiments and discovery.
- Water Wonders - Learn why water is our most precious resource using experiments, a service project, water cycle activities, and exploration of Wildcat Creek.

What are your operating hours?
Dunwoody Nature Center is open Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm and on some weekends for scheduled programs. Admission to the center and Dunwoody Park is FREE.
When can I schedule a program?
We can accommodate scout trips anytime inside our normal operating hours, Mon - Fri. Need a weekend? For a $30 weekend surcharge, DNC will work with you to meet your pack or den's needs. Schedule evening and overnight programs any evening of the week.
How do I schedule a program?
- Weekday Programs: Pay a non-refundable deposit of $50. We must receive your deposit before we will schedule your field trip.
- Evenings & Overnights: Pay a non-refundable deposit of $150 for evening programs and $200 for overnights. We must receive your deposit before we will schedule your program. Learn more about overnights at Dunwoody Nature Center.
- For All Programs: Pay your balance, calculated on the number of scouts who attend, on the day of your visit.
Can we picnic & play in the park before or after the program?
Yes, absolutely! Come early or stay late to...

Can our troop become members of Dunwoody Nature Center?
