Volunteer Roles

Flyer Delivery Volunteer - Distribute flyers for special programs and events to area schools and merchants throughout Dunwoody and vicinity.

Gardeners - Help install and maintain various garden sites, including watering, mulching, weeding, etc. Thanks to our volunteer Master Gardeners for their time and talent!

Composters - Keep our compost "growing" by watering, turning, and augmenting the pile. We need lots of compost for our gardens!

HandyPeople - Help with maintenance and improvement of our buildings, displays, and equipment.

Overnight Camping Guide - teach a camping class and spend the night in the park!

Displays - help us develop and create new displays.

Recycling Delivery - transport our recyclables to distribution centers in Dunwoody and at Morgan Falls

Special Event Assistant - Take a lead role in preparing for and staffing one of our special events:

  • Admissions

  • Concessions

  • Parking and Traffic Control

  • Butterfly Festival Boutique

  • Discovery and craft stations

  • Monarchs & Margaritas Silent Auction

  • Enchanted Forest cast member

  • Cocoa & Candles luminaries: set-up, lighting, and dousing

  • Butterfly Festival craft and discovery stations

  • Park After Dark Night Hike leader (Fall and Spring)

There are many ways to volunteer with Dunwoody Nature Center! You'll make friends, support outdoor education in our community, and help preserve Dunwoody Park.

bobbicompostYou'll find plenty to do at Dunwoody Nature Center. There are many volunteer opportuntiies, for just about any skill and age. Check the options to the side.

In addition, each of our special events, from Enchanted Forest (October) and Cocoa & Candles (December) to the Butterfly Festival (June) and Family Animal Encounters (throughout the year) are supported by volunteers.

Where would Dunwoody Nature Center and Dunwoody Park be without our wonderful corporate and civic volunteer groups? Up a tree! Down the creek! Tripping over weeds and vines! Understaffed for special events!

Hands On Atlanta Service Days

Hands On AtlantaTrail maintenance work sessions in partnership with Hands On Atlanta Volunteers provide much of the labor to keep our park safe and lovely.

Join Hands On Atlanta volunteers the third Saturday of every month, from 9 – 11 am, to groom and mulch trails, install plants, pull weeds, and evict the privet. All you need is long sleeves & jeans, work gloves, and willing hands. Major HOA events are Hands On Atlanta Day, the first Saturday in October, and MLK Day of Service on January 19. Sign up through the HoA website: www.handsonatlanta.org. Thanks to Martha Moore for coordinating this effort!
